Pictures: Jeff's graduation (party)

Just this morning, I finally found out where Jess has been stashing the pictures she's been taking with her digital camera. I've been promising to provide some pictures from recent events for quite some time, but it was rather difficult to provide pictures I didn't yet have.

However, this little problem's been solved. This is the first of what will probably be a few picture-related posts on cat.net…

New pictures for your perusal

Ok...more snapshots of life going on its merry way. View and be appropriately amused.

All your Pyrex are explode to us.

Today's adventure: braised ribs for dinner, right?

Wrong. We got to go to Rosie's.

Believe it or not, the Pyrex pan that I was using in the oven to braise the ribs….exploded in the oven. I kid you not: exploded. Jess took pictures, but she hasn't uploaded them yet. (I'll post them here when she does.)I can't believe the damned pan exploded in the oven. I'd put it in there not five minutes before, and wandered to the computer room to check email. I heard a *pffft*—sounded like the liquid was boiling over—so I went into the kitchen to check.

Last night I dreamed I went to Manderley again…

The first line from one of my favorite books—Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca. Oddly appropriate: a book that starts with a young, confused woman who flees everything she knows—and ends with a grand old building in flames.

My previous entry about this will eventually scroll. For when that happens, here are three pictures:

Fire destroyed the main building of Bauxite High School on January 5, 2001.

Major efforts were taken to save the main Bauxite High School building from flames when it burned on January 5, 2001.

This was my high school, which was destroyed by fire on January 5, 2001.

Let me tell you what it was like to grow up in this place: Bauxite, currently population ~400. So named for the bauxite ore that was available in the area. It became a boom town in World War II. Bauxite, you may remember, is the ore from which aluminum is made—aluminum that was made into lightweight planes that helped win that war.

Someone has at last created it...

A snippet of amusement from Danno. At last—someone created a can of whoopass.
